Whether you’re taking a family road trip, adventuring on the back roads, or just commuting to work, you can do it all with safety, style, and comfort. Both vehicles offer tons of standard and optional features that you’ll love. However, each SUV is a little different, so we’ve taken the time to compare them. Read on to learn more!

Performance

While both of these vehicles deliver the excellent performance you’ve come to expect from Dodge, there are some differences. The 2019 Journey offers a better fuel economy, but the Durango has a larger fuel tank. There’s also more power in the Durango, which zooms to 293 horsepower with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Journey lags a bit behind, at 173 horsepower and a 4-speed transmission. With both cars, you’ve got the option of all-wheel drive.

Size

When you’re shopping for an SUV, especially with a family, you know that size matters. The Durango is physically larger, at a length of 201.2 inches, compared to the Journey’s 192.3 inches. It’s also slightly wider and taller, with a larger wheelbase.

Both have similar front legroom and can seat up to 7 people, but the Durango boasts 2 inches of extra legroom in the back. When it comes to cargo volume, the Durango is the clear winner. It has up to 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space compared to the Journey’s 67.6 cubic feet. The Durango’s towing capacity also far outpaces the Journey’s.

Amenities

The 2019 Durango and Journey are full of amenities. Both have standard features like power windows, driver power seats, and air conditioning, but their optional amenities are quite different. The Journey has an available sunroof, rear cupholders, integrated child booster seats, and in-floor storage. On the other hand, the Durango offers optional temperature control, cushioned leather seats, heated steering wheel, leather-trimmed seating, and a quick-folding second row.

Safety

When you’re buying a vehicle with three rows of seating, you want to be extra-informed about safety features. Thankfully, both of these SUVs come with plenty of standard features as well as options. Airbags and seatbelts are the bedrock of both vehicle’s safety systems.

When you break it down by vehicles, the 2019 Journey offers standard electronic stability control, keyless entry, LATCH Ready Child Seat Anchor System, a tire pressure monitoring display, a rear backup camera, and antilock brakes. Standout options for the Journey include rear park assist and a security alarm.

The Durango has a standard backup camera, electronic stability control, and antilock brakes. From there, you can customize with options such as rear park assist, rain brake support, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.
